Carson at four months

Carson at four months:

  • Loves to coo, squeal, and lately, gurgle
  • Sucks his fingers and thumb all the time
  • Has sadly outgrown the swing. He still fits inside, but gone are the days when he’s content to just swing and peacefully stare. Now he wants out!
  • Is avidly exploring his world by grabbing for things
  • Smiles and laughs when he sees himself in a mirror
  • Likes being ticked, being talked to in funny voices, and grabbing our faces
  • Has eczema :( We’re working on diminishing it. Any recommendations?
  • Can roll over both ways (back to stomach and stomach to back). He actually seems to prefer his stomach because he usually rolls over that way and stays there.
  • Is starting to move! A few times Josh or I have walked into where we left him (in his crib or on a blanket on the floor) and said “How did you end upĀ there?”
  • Now has crib bumper pads. It was time after we found him with both legs sticking through the slats one night.
  • Is simply adorable:

One month old

Carson’s one month old today! Wow, one month? In a lot of ways, it’s hard to believe that it’s been just a month, in that it’s hard to think about life before Carson. He’s such a natural and amazing part of our family and feels like he always has been. And in other ways, time has just flown! People always tell you about having kids, “They grow up so quickly!” It’s one of those pieces of advice you hear so much it doesn’t really mean much…but now even after just one month, I can see how it’s true.

Here’s some updates on our favorite new baby:
  • Weighing just about 10 pounds
  • Now wearing size 1 diapers
  • Went to sacrament meeting for the first time today. He did great; didn’t cry or fuss too much, and mostly just slept in his baby carrier.
  • Stayed with a babysitter (aunt Brenn) for the first time this week, just for a couple hours, while Josh and I went to a BYU dinner. We suffered a little bit of Carson withdrawal, but survived with only one text message check-in with Brenn (who was nice enough to send a picture).
  • Making cute squawking and cooing noises more and more
  • Grunting a lot; yep, he’s a pretty big grunter
  • Likes baths: they calm him down, especially having his hair washed

Here’s a picture of Carson today in his Church outfit (sorry for the quality). But notice that he’s showing off his awesome part.

We sure love you, Carson!

Catching Up

Hello! And welcome to fall! Time sure seems to move fast this time of year, huh? Well, let me esplain…no, there is to much. Let me sum up. (Name that movie!) Anyway, life has been just dandy. Josh is staying busy with school, I’m staying happy with work, and we’re enjoying life. Recent highlights have been having our siblings Caleb and Brenn over for Sunday dinners, spending time with friends and family, General Conference, one awesome camping trip, watching fun movies, and enjoying the fall weather.

Here are some random and (pretty) recent pictures…hope you enjoy!

On our way back from Dallas, we visited the Lymans in Denver. Here’s a picture (taken by young photographer Luke) of their cat named Cow (isn’t it great that they have a cat named Cow?)

My birthday was in September. Josh is so great; he made me a cake and, even better…

…took me on a delicious birthday picnic feast…can you guess my favorite restaurant of all time?

We went rock climbing with Caleb, Josh’s brother. Josh and Caleb are both way into rock climbing (and way good), and it was fun. I, scardey cat that I am, only got about five feet off the ground, but baby steps, right?

Here’s some of Caleb, too:

We’ve enjoyed playing this awesome game called Qwirkle (one of my birthday presents):

We spent General Conference weekend with Josh’s family and took some good family pictures (more to follow).

And, finally, a nice picture Josh took showing how pretty the mountains have looked lately:

Hope you’re enjoying life too!
