Posts about the good normal everyday life stuff: eating out, family outings, coloring, just living life and loving it.

Still Here (and with a heater, too)

Hello! We’ve neglected posting for the past little bit, and now we want to catch up. Overall, life is good! We spent Christmas and New Year’s with the Lymans in Parker, and it was awesome. Some of my favorite activities were watching Zach play Dangerous Hunts, listening to Chris and Caleb jam on the guitar and piano, playing Mastermind with Luke, playing Just Dance with Heather, and eating delicious food with everyone all vacation long. Great vacation!

Josh started a new semester and is enjoying his classes, and work is going well for me. We still love living in the house we’re renting. Last week we came home from work and school, walked in the door, and noticed right away that it was cold – about 60 degrees cold, our thermostat told us. Our heater had somehow gone out that day. But after looking at the heater, looking up fix-it-yourself instructions online, not fixing the heater, calling the landlords, and waiting a bit, an electrician finally came and, hooray! fixed the heat that night. Our landlords were awesome and very helpful, so thank you! While we waited I did a lot of cooking in the kitchen (it was warmest by the oven), and then we wore our hoodies and laid under lots of covers and played iPod games. Not a bad night, really.

So, life is good! And since pictures are more fun than paragraphs, here are some recent pictures, in in no particular order. Enjoy!

Paige’s Fans

Tonight Josh and I were sitting next to each other tonight working on our computers. Josh leaned over to look at something on my screen. Meanwhile, the internal fans that keep my computer cool were blowing ridiculously hard because my computer’s a little old and lost half of its memory (sad story). Josh commented, “Your fans are going crazy!” And for some reason, my first thought was, “Really? My raving fans? Cool! Where?” (I think I was picturing something along the lines of “Go Go Go Joseph” from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.) Um, no idea why I’d think that. But wouldn’t that be cool, if we all did have crowds/singers and dancers cheering us on when we were, uh, sitting at our computers and typing emails? ;-)

My second thought was, “Isn’t English cool?” I mean, come on, aren’t multiple-meaning words and ambiguity like that pretty fascinating, once you think about it?

Catching Up

Hello! And welcome to fall! Time sure seems to move fast this time of year, huh? Well, let me esplain…no, there is to much. Let me sum up. (Name that movie!) Anyway, life has been just dandy. Josh is staying busy with school, I’m staying happy with work, and we’re enjoying life. Recent highlights have been having our siblings Caleb and Brenn over for Sunday dinners, spending time with friends and family, General Conference, one awesome camping trip, watching fun movies, and enjoying the fall weather.

Here are some random and (pretty) recent pictures…hope you enjoy!

On our way back from Dallas, we visited the Lymans in Denver. Here’s a picture (taken by young photographer Luke) of their cat named Cow (isn’t it great that they have a cat named Cow?)

My birthday was in September. Josh is so great; he made me a cake and, even better…

…took me on a delicious birthday picnic feast…can you guess my favorite restaurant of all time?

We went rock climbing with Caleb, Josh’s brother. Josh and Caleb are both way into rock climbing (and way good), and it was fun. I, scardey cat that I am, only got about five feet off the ground, but baby steps, right?

Here’s some of Caleb, too:

We’ve enjoyed playing this awesome game called Qwirkle (one of my birthday presents):

We spent General Conference weekend with Josh’s family and took some good family pictures (more to follow).

And, finally, a nice picture Josh took showing how pretty the mountains have looked lately:

Hope you’re enjoying life too!

Homemade Muffin Tops

One day this summer, when Josh was gone each day for his internship and I was working from home, I made homemade muffin tops…sort of. Well, inadvertently. I was basically forced to, as I was practically starving and we didn’t have much food so I was going to settle for toast and peanut butter, but then our last loaf of bread was moldy, and all we had was muffin mix. But we didn’t bring any muffin tins with us. Still, hunger drove me on.

Determined to get some of that muffin goodness in me, I mixed up the muffin mix like normal, and then just kind of plopped it on a cookie sheet and stuck it in the oven. It worked out great! My favorite part of eating muffins is actually the crispy outside anyway, so the outcome (flat pancake-like muffins) were actually perfect, crispy and tasty. I flipped them once halfway through, to cook both sides thoroughly and avoid burning one side, and just kind of kept an eye on them. I don’t think they took as long to cook as normal muffins do.

Anyway, if you’ve ever wondered if you can make muffins without muffin tins, now you know that you sure can.
